In addition to operating the audio system, the multi-controller can also be used to select other menu functions on the TFT colour display. These include the onboard computer, ESA II, the navigation system, and the heated grips and seat. Drivers can also access the set-up menu for configuring their user and vehicle-specific preferences. Examples include changing the user language or configuring the xenon headlight for right and left-hand traffic.
The menu structure was developed specifically for motorcycle requirements and optimised over a series of user tests. For riding safety purposes, the menu structure was designed as straightforward as possible, keeping the number of sub-menus to a minimum. Activatable functions in ride mode have also been further reduced. By programming a favourite button, drivers can enjoy direct access to their most important functions (e.g. the navigation system menu). This has led to both a practical reduction in the number of keys as well as enhanced usability.
